SONNENBERG
State : Hessen
District (Kreis) : Wiesbaden
Incorporated into : 1926 Wiesbaden
German | blazon wanted |
English | blazon wanted |
Origin/meaning
The arms were approved in 1951 for the Sonnenberg district of Wiesbaden, but were already in use for a long time before. The sun is a canting symbol. The angelface probably has no specific meaning, but is used as deceoration. The oldest use of the sun dates from the oldest seal of the village, known from 1668. All later seals showed the similar sun.
Sonnenberg received city rights in 1351, but never developed into a town or city.
