Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on November 18, 2004.
The arms of Liebenwalde appeared for the first time on the seal of the city from 1349. The tree probably is a canting symbol (Wald=forest), the small shield with the eagle and the helmet are derived from the arms of Brandenburg, as the city was a possession of the Margraves of Brandenburg at the time.
