Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on ??-??-1969.
The chequered bar is derived from the arms of the Counts of the Mark, as the area historically belonged to the County of Mark. The lower half shows the red bar of the State of Münster, as part of the municipality was historically ruled by the Bishops of Münster.
The upper part shows three balls, derived from the arms of the local Pentling-Hilbeck family.
Literature: Stadler, 1964-1971, 8 volumes.
