Heraldry of the World Civic heraldry of Germany - Deutsche Wappen (Gemeindewappen/Kreiswappen) |
HASSELFELDE
State : Sachsen-Anhalt
District (Kreis) : Harz (until 2007 Werningerode)
Incorporated into: 2010 Oberharz am Brocken
Origin/meaning :
The arms were never officially granted, but were used since the 17th century.
The arms show a canting hazel-leaf (Hasel=hazel). The name means hazel-field and until the 19th century hazel trees were common in the area.
The leaf can be seen on the local seals from 1599 until 1834.
The arms as shown in the Kaffee Hag albums. |
