Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on June 7, 2010.
The elements of the arms have been taken from the arms of the former municipalities.
The deer and pine trees are taken from the old arms of Elbingerode. At the same time the trees refer to the many forests on the local hills, and the deer for the rich wildlife in the region. The hill in the base refers to the Harz mountains and the name of the municipality.
The miner's tools refer to the former importance of mining in the area.
