Origin/meaning
The oldest known seal of the town dates from 1811 and shows in the middle the old village sign, made up of a hook with a ring around it, placed vertically. On the village sign there is a small image of the H. Madonna with child. Besides the hook are the letters S and B. After 1850 the seals show the same image without the letters. When the council applied for arms in 1901 it was decided to place the old village sign horizontally, to make more space for the Madonna. The new arms were adopted in April 1901.
