Origin/meaning
Although it was mentioned in 1626 that the village had no own seal, a seal is known from 1628. It already shows the hook and stars. Later seals and images often showed the hook alone. The present arms were devised in 1898 in the colours of Baden, as no historical colours were known.
The hook in the arms probably is a crosier. Most of the village belonged to a monastery in Speyer. The origin of the stars is not known.
