Origin/meaning

The arms were adopted in 1911. The village was founded in the 18th century and was a possession of the bishops of Speyer until 1806. The oldest seal dates from the early 19th century and showed the letters NL and a star. In the arms the cross of the State of Speyer was combined with the star from the old seal. The meaning of the star is not known, most likely it was just used as decoration.

Literature: John et al., 1990
