Origin/meaning

The arms were designed in the early 20^th century, based on the historical seal, and officially granted in 1955.

The arms show a canting linden tree (the name means large-linden). A linden tree or branch already appeared in the 17th and 18^th century seals of the town. The tree was also used as arms, bit the colours differed widely during the centuries.
